Day 22
We've been busy and had internet connection issues, so this update is a day or so behind. Beans, radishes, and kale are quickly sprouting! Guess the seeds had more life in them than I thought.

 This is sprouting kale:

 These are the beans:
 Radishes (beside the marigolds):
The girth of the tomato plants is impressive for their size:

Day 16
Planted some kale and spinach seeds. We'll have to water all the seeds once or twice per day at least until they germinate.

Mendi cut up an empty yogurt container to make markers so we can remember what we planted where! She wrote the plant name, date planted, hybrid type, and projected days to maturity. High tech.

Day 15

More progress pics! Slowly expanding the garden. Not pictured: Mendi planted a couple radishes for pest control and some late green beans. The seeds are a little old, so we'll see if they germinate.

Day 12

Progress pics! Daniel mowed again, so we've used the grass clippings to cover garden area we have not yet prepared. This is in hopes to kill the grass underneath to make it easier to pull up and expand the garden plot. The plants are growing, and the garden is looking less like a grave!

Day 9

The garden spot is now a little more than a week old. The tomato and marigold plants have grown visibly! We bought a bag of mushroom compost to sprinkle over the top and will water it in. This will hopefully help to enhance the nutrient content of our soil.

Daniel noticed that the grass had died under the pile of chunks we created when we dug up the grass for our garden plot. This gave him the idea to use the dead grass chunks to help kill the grass around the garden space to make expansion easier.
